Hodgson flips at persistent Rio questioning
Rio Ferdinand’s days as an England player appear to be over – thanks in no small part to a band of journalists acting like some two-year-olds constantly asking “but why?”

Rio, a former England captain no less, hasn’t played for England since June 2011 but the 34-year-old did recently admit that he would “love” a recall to the side.
The result of that statement was the aforementioned journalists asking about a Rio recall at every subsequent England press conference – and Roy Hodgson has had enough of it.
“It seems to me all I ever do is answer questions about Rio,” Hodgson said.
“I am not prepared, every time we play, to keep revisiting something which I have revisited at every single press conference for the last 10 months.”
The 65-year-old added: “I don’t know how many more times I have to say it. You can write what you want to write.
“We have beaten Brazil [2-1 win on Wednesday]. I am not prepared to constantly talk about people who aren’t here and weren’t selected in the first place.”
Roy has previously admitted that Ferdinand’s career with England wasn’t finished – discussing the very matter with passengers on the Piccadilly Line.
So, is Rio finished?
